Teebirds weekly report SCRAMBLE at Ironwood 6.4.26
It was a fantastic morning at the Ironwood GC. Blue skies with high wispy clouds and very light winds greeted our 25 Teebirds. Al Pote had the cooler filled with chilled beverages at the first tee. Gary Klass served as STARTER and checked the roster for last minute changes provided by Dave W. Teams were lined up and ready to go for the 8 a.m. START. Each Team used GG for scoring on the first 9 holes. All Teams did a good job entering scores for the 9 holes! Thank you!
The SCRAMBLE scores for 9 holes were 36, 36, 35, 35, 34, 33 and 33. Average Scramble score was 34.6 with a range of 3.
- Wayne Lockwood, Dave Williams, Lane Crothers and Scott Lage shot a 36 with all 9 holes showing pars on the scorecard. No special shots noted for the group.
- John Walker, Hank Campbell and Ken Smiciklas also showed 36 by scoring a birdie 3 on Hole # 6. The Team just missed par putts on # 9 for a bogie. Noted shots were Hank with a 200 yd drive in the middle of fairway on # 1. John W drove within 10’ of the pin on #8 but all missed the putt for the birdie. Hole #9 started with a 200 yd drive in middle of fairway yet the Team could not sink the tricky putt thus a bogey.
- Paul Kahle, Kenny Weaver Bruce Burningham and Dick Manard scored a par on every hole except for the par 4 #6 hole. They scored their lone birdie for a 35. N special shots recorded on the scorecard.
- Al Pote, Steve Kern, Jerry Youngmark and Gerry Chrisman knocked the ball around the 9 holes with just one birdie on the par 5 # 7. They ended with a 35. Notable was Steve K’s putt on # 7, a left to right slider in the hole for the birdie.
- Gary Duffy, Dave Anderson, Larry Kuykendall and JoEllen Bohnsen came through with a -2 34. The card showed a bogey on # 3 but the Team scored three birdies in a row on holes 6, 7 and 8. Dave A sank a 25’ birdie putt on #6 while Gary D sank a 27’ birdie putt on # 8. Sinking birdie putts is pure excitement!
- Two Teams tied for best score of the day with -3, 33’s. Gary Klass, Cal Lawrence and Mike Navario (Welcome back Mike!) pulled this nice round with Gary K sinking a 20’ birdie putt on hole #5, Mike N sank a 15’ birdie putt on # 6, and best of all, Gary sank a 15’ birdie putt on the difficult # 9 green.
- Ben Kahle, Bob Bahnsen and John Glascock had a mixed round of the good and bad noted on the scorecard. They ended up with a 33. A bad accomplishment on hole # 1 as they all missed a 4’putt for the birdie. Good on # 2 as Jack nailed a 25’ birdie putt. Another GOOD was Bob’s 38’ birdie putt all by himself on ## 4. BAD on # 6 as Bob left his 8’ birdie putt short by ¼”. GOOD on #8 as Jack sank 27’ birdie putt. Just a thought. Ben Kahle, were you just an observer?
PRIZE BALLS: The two Teams with scores of 33. Ben K, Bob B, John G, Gary D, Dave A Larry K and JoEllen B. A good day for each Team.
Next week we gather together for a BRAMBLE match with a High-5 at The Den. Ken Smiciklas is our STARTER for the 8 a.m. tee time. We will sponsor a beverage social in the clubhouse after 9 holes.
It was a terrific group of Teebirds that came to play at Ironwood today. And we got to use the new carts. They were extra nice! Have a good weekend. Stay safe and hydrated. See you at The Den, June 11th. Submitted by Hank Campbell
